Based on 224 reviewsEl Ximador is praised for its authentic Mexican cuisine featuring fresh, hot, and flavorful dishes that make it a popular choice for both dine-in and takeout. Customers frequently highlight the restaurant’s inviting atmosphere and generally attentive service, contributing to a positive dining experience. However, some feedback points to occasional inconsistencies in staff communication and follow-up, particularly during busier times or with takeout orders. Additionally, minor menu availability issues, such as certain drinks being offered but not stocked, have been noted. Despite these areas for improvement, El Ximador remains a favored local spot, especially on weekends when demand spikes, reflecting strong overall satisfaction with the food quality and ambiance.
The food was delicious. The service was very good as well. Overall, it was a very nice menu for lunch and our food was hot and fresh.
Updated review: Took a star away. We had such a good experience the first time we decided to order the same food to go a couple nights later. When I called the girl who took my order on the phone seemed nice enough, however she did not ask for my name. When I arrived to the restaurant I walked in and told one of the waitresses that I had a to go order. She just looked at me and said go to the bar. So I walked over to the bar and stood for a couple minutes waiting to be acknowledged by the waitress behind the bar. That waitress never even looked my way so I started to pull the barstool out from the counter to sit down since I had already been standing for a couple minutes. The original waitress who told me to go to the bar very quickly said to me that my food was about to come out. She made it very clear the way that she spoke that she did not want me sitting down at the bar for some reason. There were only three other guests at the bar at that time. So I begrudgingly slid the barstool back under and continued to stand around for a couple more minutes feeling very unwelcomed. I did not get the first smile or thank you from the staff. The only one who was nice was the very young girl standing by the door greeting people as they came in. The food was good, but not as good as the first time. The peppers & onions were not cooked well the second time and the meat didn’t seem to be seasoned as well. Original review: My mom and I visited for lunch today. The restaurant was about half full or a little more. We were waited on right away. Our waitress was quick & friendly. The sweet tea was great. We ordered the table side guacamole, rice with three kinds of meat and peppers/onions/tomatoes and a side of black beans. The food came out FAST! Everything was wonderful including the chips & salsa. I like my peppers & onions actually cooked so they are soft, not crunchy, and that’s exactly what I got without having to ask for well done veggies. We do not live in the area, but if we did we would be frequent customers based on today’s experience. They also have a really cool shirt on the wall that says they sell them for $15 but when I asked my waitress she said the manager had some but did not wish to sell them. I guess they are saving them for employees? Oh well.
This has become one of our favorite weekend spots. Food is authentic and fantastic if ypu love Mexican, wait staff is nice, the only negative is they have hot tea on the menu but they don't actually have any. Not huge i know but i do love my hot tea!! Anyway, we love it enough to go back every few weeks. If you are going on a sunday- GO EARLY, once church lets out it is crazy busy!!
It was perfect and delicious. The waitresses were on point. My food came out fast and hot. Update: I took service down to a 3 bc after checking on me only once after my food was delivered, my waitress never came back. Another waitress had to check and ask me if I was OK after being ignored for at least 10 minutes.
